Air-to-Ground Channel Characterization for Low-Height UAVs in Realistic Network Deployments

چکیده

Due to the decrease in cost, size and weight, \acp{UAV} are becoming more popular for general-purpose civil commercial applications. Provision of communication services both user data control messaging by using off-the-shelf terrestrial cellular deployments introduces several technical challenges. In this paper, an approach air-to-ground channel characterization low-height based on extensive measurement campaign is proposed, giving special attention comparison results when a typical directional antenna network used quasi-omnidirectional one considered. Channel characteristics like path loss, shadow fading, root mean square delay Doppler frequency spreads K-factor statistically characterized different suburban scenarios.

Measuring Receiver Diversity on a Low-Altitude UAV in a Ground-to-Air Wireless Mesh Network

We consider the problem of mitigating a highly varying wireless channel between a ground node transmitting to a small, low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in a wireless mesh network. One approach is to use multiple receiver nodes on the UAV that exploit the channel’s spatial/temporal diversity and that cooperate to improve overall packet reception. We present a series of measurement stud...

Investigation of Low Altitude Air-to-Ground Channel over a Tropical Sea Surface at C Band

This paper investigate a low altitude air-to-ground channel over a sea surface in the tropical region at C band. It is found that, compared to a high altitude air-to-ground channel where a free space propagation condition can be assumed, the sea surface reflection and other multipath propagation phenomena for lower altitude air-to-ground channel can readily be observed. Therefore, for low altit...

Wideband Air-to-ground Radio Channel Measurements Using an Antenna Array at 2 Ghz for Low-alititude Operations

Wideband measurements were perfonned using a directsequence spread-spectrum measurement system in the airto-ground radio environment to characterize propagation between an airborne transmitter and a ground-based receiving antenna array at a center frequency of 2.05 GHz. The transmitter was flown along constant-radius arcs at low altitudes around the receiver location to obtain measurement resul...
